  1. Ending the Silence *

Ending the Silence is an engaging presentation that helps middle and high school aged youth learn about the warning signs of mental health conditions and what steps to take if you or a loved one are showing symptoms of a mental health condition.

  1. Taller Poniendo fin al silencio *

Poniendo fin al silencio es una presentación interesante que ayuda a los jóvenes de la escuela secundaria y preparatoria a aprender sobre las señales de advertencia de los problemas de salud mental y qué medidas tomar si usted o un ser querido presenta síntomas de un problema de salud mental.

  1. Know your Rights for Parents ***

Parents of children with disabilities need help navigating the legal complexities of the special education system. Learn how to ensure your child receives a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment.

  1. Building a Better PA/PTA **

Understanding your role as a Parent Leader. This workshop will cover a range of topics: PA/PTA roles and responsibilities; and PA/PTA by-laws and regulations.

  1. Financial Affair for PA/PTA *

Learn how to maintain accurate and thorough records regarding all financial affairs in order to ensure compliance with all PA/PTA rules and regulations, accountability to the general membership, and the retention of information for use in future years.

  1. 6.     Title I: Every Student Success Act - ESSA, Part A ***
  2. This workshop aims to the parent and family engagement requirements under ESSA and guidance on allowable and unallowable expenditures under Title 1.

 

7.     Introduction to Grant Writing **
Learn how to write a successful grant proposal as a first-time grant writer. Explore the elements of proposal writing for nonprofits such as PA/PTAs, small business, and more.  Create a sound proposal budget, develop and cultivate a foundation.

  1. Finding Grants *

Come learn how to search for grants and grantmakers who have funded organizations working on causes and with communities similar to those you serve.

9. CPR Workshop ***
The FDNY Foundation and its partners, the Fire Department offer free hands-only CPR classes. The goal of these classes is to equip New Yorkers with the basic skills needed to act in the event of a cardiac arrest emergency.

10.   Understanding Your Child IEP **
Learn about the fundamentals of the IEP process, including evaluations and eligibility, the roles and responsibilities of school staff and families, the various components of the IEP, and the transition planning process. For families of students with disabilities. NYC families & professionals are welcome.

  1. Paint and Sip *

Bring out your inner artist through painting in a relaxed environment while sipping nonalcohol beverages. Learn techniques from the professional artist leading the workshop.

  1. Create a Vision Board *

Learn how a vision board can help you set goals that will manifest into reality. We will focus on life, school, career and entrepreneurship.

  1. Puberty and Beyond **

Guide to provide information on puberty that can be directly applied to pre-teens with autism. The guide helps increase families' understanding of puberty and their ability to adapt to these changes with confidence.

  1.  Homework: It’s a Family Affair **

Learn how parents can best support their children in completing their homework assignments and how the UFT’s Dial-the-Teacher offers free tutoring resources for kindergarten through 12 grade levels on a wide range of subjects and in many different languages.

  1.  Tenant Rights **

With the historic passage of the strongest rent reforms in decades, New York State tenants have more rights than ever before to maintain affordable housing/rent.

  1.  School Leadership Teams ***

Guidance on the role of School Leadership Teams - SLTs in creating a structure for school-based decision making and shaping the path to a collaborative school culture.

  1.   Brave: Against Bullying **

The UFT's BRAVE campaign aims to combat bullying in our schools. Short for Building Respect, Acceptance and Voice through Education, the BRAVE campaign provides educators, parents and students with the tools, knowledge and support to be pro-active in confronting and stopping bullying.
